The Ancestral Waves Project™

Updates Log.

As the research for the Ancestral Waves Project™ (AWP) continues, along with its developments, I decided to start an online log to share parts of the process with those who are following and interested in being a participant.

In November/December 2025, I launched the AWP on Facebook and also the research projects' section of the Boho & Knots™ website. The exploration for the project, informally, began several years ago although a framework and methodology for how to move things forward were not yet present to me. However, the curiosity about the foundational integrated themes began over 30 years ago. Over the years, more questions continued to arise and led me to create a specific Facebook Group, related to Atlantic Canada, during the pandemic. That group also served to help inform the current research project especially based on the sources of information I received at the time, in addition to the shares in the space, which affirmed the need for something new to be introduced. The group gained a lot of popularity, yet, Facebook didn't appear to be the best space for the type of engagement and sharing for the vision held at the time. As such, I began to explore options for how to bring community together using the same vision in a different format. A more accessible one. At the time, I took a hiatus from social media for close to 2 years or so, and when I returned, I lost the login credentials for the group. While I wasn't able to revive the space, the interest to continue the work remained. It actually intensified, especially when I began to explore the art of macrame in 2022. Over the past 3 years, while I continued to hone and expand my knowledge of the art and share it in various spaces (ie: through workshops and other ways), and a synergy occurred where intergenerational teachings informed the foundation for the project in mid-fall 2025. The AWP is the first official, independent led, arts-based research project and the initial launch details that were shared went through a few revisions over the past few months with the latest update being launched today (on Facebook and also my website). Outreach has also started and will continue into 2026, research on related themes has increased over the past few months, and the methodology has been published. Information will continue to be collected to help inform the next steps for the work, especially in preparation for 2026 engagements, as well as collaborations. At this time, I want to extend a big thank you to all those who have been providing supportive feedback, stories, and guidance, including those who are scholars, that are helping to inform the work. The AWP begins with a focus on the first route, for a unique intra-diaspora, with a vision (as outlined in earlier iterations of the project overview) to expand so it will include additional routes and intersecting diaspora. Those interested to learn more or to collaborate are welcome to reach out via email or the contact page on the Boho & Knots™ website. I welcome connections with who have aligned intentions, visions, and values in relation to this purposeful work. With gratitude, BeLight
