Ancient Technology. Restorative Art.
Embodied Storytelling.

Macramé & Material Remembrance™

Boho & Knots is your go to place for hands-on and land-based [w]holistic wellness, creative expansion, and restorative continuity.

We recognize macramé as an evolved contemporary practice of ancient hand-knotting and finger-weaving technologies.

While we utilize the name "macramé" for accessibility in today’s wellness and art landscapes here in Canada, our work is dedicated to researching and reclaiming the deeper, cultural and
land-based origins of these traditions.

Our mission is to provide an accessible medium and pathway to bridge sensory, social, and intergenerational gaps, fostering a more integrated sense of belonging that is held, carried,
and refined by each of us through embodied knowing.

All our work is grounded in our Material Remembrance™ modality which can viewed by clicking the button below.

Contextual Clarity

While our work is guided by intergenerational teachings on the healing power of hand-knots and finger weaving—often referred to as 'medicine' in our cultural traditions—Boho & Knots™ provides restorative modalities and is not a
provider of clinical medicine or
allopathic treatments

Pease read more on our professional disclaimer and ethical practice on our Living Thread™
page linked below.

The Gateway:
Macramé and the Sensory System

In our practice, the hand-knot is more than a design element;
it is a sensory tool.

The rhythmic, tactile nature of working with fiber acts as a gateway to the nervous system, offering a unique pathway for:

Sensory Integration
Regulating the "felt sense" through repetitive, rhythmic movement.

Cognitive Grounding: Creating a focused "quiet space" that reduces stress and supports neuro-wellness.

Embodied Storytelling: Moving from the "thinking mind" to the "doing hands," allowing newly and forgotten personal and intergenerational narratives to emerge through touch.

Restorative Connection
Using texture as a bridge to reach wellness goals that traditional,
text-heavy frameworks may overlook.

Our work aims to
Defy the Ordinary by using the art, not as a craft,
but as a restorative
practice that fosters
sensory integration,
cultural continuity, and creative expansion.

The Art of Knots

A journey into the global evolution of fiber as an ancient technology. We invite introspection into the transition from traditional finger-weaving to modern "macramé," unearthing the intergenerational knowledge held within each strand.

The Global Archive
While this section is continuing to grow, as we continue to add to it as we discover more, we current provide some overview that traces the technology from ancient Incan civilizations in the Americas, who invested the Quipu, to ancient Egypt, China, and other nations.

The threads literally bind us.

The Cultural Bridge

In the related section, we provide an overview of how Arabic weavers' hand-knotting of "migramah" (fringe) traveled to Spain and eventually to the Americas and West Africa via sailors.

Our Research Framework

My practice is grounded in an original methodology called Material Genealogy™.

This framework utilizes Hand-knots and Fiber as a Primary Source to investigate historical silences and intergenerational continuity.

This research ensures that our wellness offerings are not only beautiful but also rooted in the recovery of
land-based ways of knowing.  While my findings remain proprietary to ensure ethical containment, I invite you to explore the depth of this work through my academic and community-led research.

Weaving the Future: A Collective Anchor

The journey of reclamation is not one we take alone. Whether you are seeking a quiet space for personal restoration, a tangible archive for a complex story, or a collaborative partner for restorative research, Boho & Knots™ is here to facilitate that connection.

Through the medicine of the hand-knot, we honor the knowledge that has been passed down, the resilience that is currently held,
and the creative expansion that is waiting to be
refined by the next generation.

We invite you to pick up the thread, engage your senses, and discover the grounding power of this ancient technology.

Together, we are mending the gaps and ensuring that for our stories, our wellness, and our lineages...

“...not all who wander are lost.”
