Divergent Sensibilities

The understanding of divergent sensibilities brought me here...to this beautiful organically immersive art form & phase of my be-ing. Do you ever get curious about why each of us sees, experiences, and is drawn to things so differently?

Human behaviour has always fascinated me...especially in relation to things our habits and patterns.  We're all drawn to repeat or align with certain actions and choices. In many cases, this is based on the pattern of our thinking and the related responses we feel through our many senses.

Some we're very aware of, some we're not. And, in either case, we often don't know why we sense (feel and experience things) differently from each other at times. In most instances, we take these differences (divergent) for granted or simply neglect what they aim to teach us about ourselves and others.

Our sensory system is so interesting and it's unfortunate most our lives are too distracting for us to be present what makes us feel aligned and in-tune with the natural essence of our being throughout the phases of our growth and evolution.   In many ways, we're conditioned or feel disempowered from practicing mindfulness, meditation, and grounding to ascertain what in our realm of our reality and consciousness that genuinely fits or resonates, and what doesn't (without force, manipulation, excuses, etc.).

Even when we may have the privileged moments to turn inward and to quiet the noise and chaos around us, most can't really make any desired changes as doing so because our lives are often intertwined with others and/or responsibilities. This makes it difficult to identify and prioritize needs based on the unique design of our sensibilities.

In other words, it's difficult for most to know what resonates most with them, on multiple levels, and even if/when they do, most have to abandon or deprioritize those things because of ____________ [insert a reason or set of reasons here].

I think it's so very important to create space to tune into self to really assess what feeds us energy, what feels like peace, and what keeps us in a state of flow. What inspires or sparks intrinsic, purposeful, creativity and joy (even when it may not be relatives to most or those closest to us)? In other words, not based on what gets validated by others; more by what gives us resonance from within. What are the things that bring a sense of bliss & peace and why?

How many really take deep dives to question the way certain things feel so aligned with their core essence of being? Almost on a spiritual or divine level.

And, how many questions what feels so foreign and disruptive to our core (like a type of Kryptonite)?  There's so any questions tied to this, yet, most of the questions are outside of people's awareness because the common conversations or questions within most people's social circles are not based on "feelings" as it relates the broad spectrum of what we feel (or what some are able to feel more than others) based on the design of their sense-Abilities.

Sensory consciousness helps explain why this is. Due to most people not having the bandwidth or space in their lives to be more introspective than not, about themselves (rather than others), tapping into the related aspects of self isn't common or, comfortable. In some cases, people don't know how or face barriers to doing so. To help make the related practice more accessible, one can engage in activities that organically activate and stimulate the senses (in an immersive or meditative way). Being more present to the sensation from related stimuli, outside one's norm, like doing things with the hands (ie: gardening, arts-and-crafts, building things, touching different textures and materials etc.) or spending time in nature as this allows for observing things in natural states which triggers sensory responses that are more relatable (and gentle) than artificial stimuli. Creating space to be in lakes and oceans and listening to sounds that aren't just related to popular or trendy music; while the later is okay, there's sonic sounds and frequencies that can only be heard or felt (sensed) with certain instruments, tuning, patterns (and intention) etc. Ensuring one is able to see different colour spectrums and to taste different flavors is also really good; especially those that are more natural and organic.

As well, as a side note, contrary to popular belief, we have way more than 5-6 senses. Touch, taste, hearing, vision, smelling and intuition are just a few of the connectors of/to our sensory system. There's also nuances to senses commonly referenced senses such as, touch doesn't just relate to what is or can be felt through the hands (as example). Temperatures, from different heat and cooling sources also "touch" us. Or, the energy from other people, things, or vibrations of invisible frequencies (ie: from electronics). Our ability to hear is not the only purpose of our ears and ability to receive sound. Our ability to hear also helps us with balance, spatial perception, etc. Some studies say we have upward of 15-20 or more senses which helps explains why some people are more talented or gifted in certain areas than others (and vice versa). as example). While we can all pick up a paint brush to paint, not all of us can make a living off our painting abilities. Similarly, while we can all pick up an instrument and play it, not all of us will be able to play them well. This is related to our divergent [different] sensibilities, how we relate to them, and what we do with them.Yet, most of us were taught we have a limited number of senses which is partly why those who are more aware of or in-tune with a broader spectrum of senses (even if they can't name them or explain their function) seem "different", or exceptional, to most. Sometimes in not so much in a positive way; depending on their capacity to articulate or explain how they experience and relate to things and others (on a sensory level), they can be perceived as lacking in some ways. Wherein, they may actually be highly more skilled and capable in ways they may simply be unable to put into words or expressed in ways that others resonate with (based on their sensory system design). It's like Apple Products and Microsoft Products. While both have the same functions, they use and rely on different language, prompts, cues, etc. (coding and decoding) for processing information. They also require system updates (ie: new information, data, abilities for optimization etc.). When it comes to human communication and connection (including withour selves), we're very similar in that we constantly need to update (or scan) ourselves in different ways, more so, if we want to be able to access or connect with more of ourselves (and/or others) for others to be able to access or connect with more aspects of ourselves. In relation, not just to our commonalities, but also our divergence. It's our differences that support expansion and evolution. The attunement or awareness of this, as it relates to our senses, is helps explain way some people may avoid certain things or people or be more drawn certain things or people than others); especially in relation to people. Those functioning with an out-of-date or limited processing model tend to be more challenging to connect with than those who have the functioning (capacity) to expand their knowing and awareness. Those that can do so represent a strength as their openness to growth and learning is an indicator of their ability to recognize the power of resonance and an ability to show they're response-able to the related stimuli.

Our sensory awareness and sensory consciousness helps explain why some of us are become immersed in certain things (differently than others) as well; sometimes for hours to the point we become almost in a trance with the experience.

Spending time doing things that we truly IN-joy plays a big part in how we see ourselves, how we show up and take in the world, and how we relate to others. On a sensory level, not just on a cognitive level .As well, it's important that this joy isn't mainly tied to external (extrinsic) factors and influences because when it is, generally, this means our sense of wellbeing and creative capacity (ie: our sense of abundance) are more tethered to other's sensibilities (rather than our own). It's difficult to know ourselves more fully, and to expand more fully, when this happens.

When we're more attune to the sensibilities of others, it means we're likely out-of-sync with our true essence (and full bundle of gifts) because we're abandoning the aspects ourselves needed to help us feel most whole and complete. The consequences of this manifests in ways that, generally, don't allow ourselves, or others, to experience genuine a sense of well[ness] in our presence.

We can't feel, give, or reciprocate what we don't know we're feeling (or can feel), what we don't understand in relation to our senses, and why it's important to nurture and foster the sensations that resonate as bliss, ease, and flow.

Acknowledging the gift of our divergent sensibilities, as it relates to sensory consciousness, is truly empowering and transformative. It helps us know ourselves more so that we can make more informed choices in relation to our wellness goals and needs. When I began allow myself to say "yes" to more things resonated with my sensibilities (and while saying "no" to what didn't - unapologetically), my conscious awareness went to new levels and depths. The related wisdom that came with this reality brought me to this place awareness.

This place of knowing; this place of expansion. I've been more inspired in the past few years than ever in my life; like I am becoming more whole within myself. And, more creative.

Be Light.
